File formats

Zero Install always stores configuration files encoded as UTF-8 (without BOM) using Unix-style linebreaks independent of the operating system in use. Files downloaded from the internet are kept unmodified. Files with BOM and/or Windows-style linebreaks are read without any problems.

  • A feed describes a program that can be started via Zero Install.
  • A catalog is a collection of feeds.
